Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the United States. She's been media critic since. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The site hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of the depictions of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site dedicated to education, which examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives was the result of her research. The site also has the executive director. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding the targeted and sexist attacks on women, as well as other minorities, she is determined to break down the stigmas and stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Social and Political thought at York University, is a popular public speaking. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while studying at the University. As of 2009, this determined young woman was targeted on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. However, the attacks did not hinder her. It only strengthened her in her role as a feminist journalist. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feminist movements, she has been the recipient of numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media critic. She is also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit group that focuses on pop-culture gender representations.
